Farewell 2010

This year, I made choices. I was bold and even a little bit pushy. I made mistakes as well. Even some major ones but I took my chances, I went for it anyway. I learned a lot of things. Maybe going through all this uncertainty, fear and pain is where the points stands. It's what keeps us moving forward. What pushes us. All this messes you up as well but maybe we have to be a little messed up before we can step up. I send my farewell to this struggling year and hope for the upcoming one to be a little bit sweeter.

Who is sleeping on my pillow

My most treasured belonging these days is this book, offered by my sweet dutchy couple.
It's the catalogue from the combine exhibition of Mamma Andersson and Jockum Nordström. I've known the work of Nordström for a while now and was always fascinated by his fantastic world, his very liberated way of drawing, his mysterious scenes and landscapes. Here I discovered the work of his wife Mamma Andersson and it touched me deeply as well. Their intimacy and bound as artists impregnate the book and make it even more fascinating.

As I have a lot more time lately, I am having a close look on what inspires me in my work field and what makes me cogitate in the world of animation films. So here is the first pearl:

The thing that really touches me in the world of John and Faith Hubley is that their work is very pictural. They have a real sense of colours and textures. They play on clear outlines above dark backgrounds, thin coloured pencil lines or very thick felt tip pen marks. I love particularly the two short films MoonBird and Windy Day because they completelly embrace the world of childhood in its most free and imaginative way.

"Et alors voilà, ce que je voulais dire c'est que ça me fait mal de te voir naviguer dans des virages aussi nuls que ce virage de Courverney, mais même si je devais aller chaque fois regarder un fleuve, chaque fois, pour bien m'en souvenir, je penserais toujours que c'est juste, et que tu fais bien d'y aller, même si rien que de le dire j'ai envie de t'exploser la tête, mais je veux que tu y ailles, et je suis heureuse que tu y ailles , tu es un fleuve fort , tu ne te perdras pas, peu importe si moi dans ces coins-là j'irais jamais même morte, c'est simplement parce qu'on est des fleuves différents , évidemment, je dois être un fleuve d'un autre modèle, d'ailleurs si j'y pense je crois bien qu'au lieu d'un fleuve, je veux dire, c'est bien possible que je sois un lac, je ne sais pas si tu comprends, peut-être que certains sont des fleuves et d'autres des lacs, moi je suis un lac, je ne sais pas, quelque chose qui ressemble à un lac, je me suis baignée dans un lac une fois, c'était très bizarre parce que tu vois que tu avances, je veux dire, c'est tellement plat que quand tu nages tu t'aperçois que tu avances, c'est une sensation bizarre, et puis il y avait des tas d'insectes et si tu descendais les pieds, près du bord, là où tu touchais le fond, si tu descendais tes pieds, ça faisait vraiment une impression dégoûtante, comme du sable gras, t'aurais pas imaginé ça vu d'en dessus, mais une sorte de sable gras, du pétrole, ce genre, assez répugnant vraiment, en tout cas moi je voulais seulement te dire deux choses, la première c'est que s'ils se hasardent à te faire du mal moi je vais là-bas et je les étends sur un câble à haute tension, je les accroche par les couilles, exactement par les couilles, et la seconde chose c'est que tu me manqueras, c'est-à-dire, ta force me manquera, peu importe si tu comprends pas, pour l'instant, peut-être qu'après tu comprendras, ta force me manquera, Gould, petit môme bizarre, ta force, bon dieu de putain de bordel à clous."
